Phnom Penh, April 28, 2019 –Cambodia and China have reached a cooperation agreement on the development of 5G technology in Cambodia.
The agreement was inked in Beijing, China this morning under the presidency of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and President of Huawei’s Southeast Asia Region, Mr. Wu Weitao.
In the meeting held before the signing ceremony, Mr. Wu Weitao said Cambodia is the first country in ASEAN that signed such agreement with Huawei and pledged to continue strengthening the cooperation with relevant government ministries and institutions in order to promote digital development in the Kingdom.
He also thanked the Cambodian side for the success of Huawei’s investment in Cambodia. According to Mr. Wu, Huawei has opened an office in the Kingdom since 1998.
For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen recommended the company to continue cooperating with relevant ministries and institutions, adding that he wants Huawei to help building Cambodia’s capacity in the sector of technology.
