President of Viet Nam Begins State Visit in Cambodia

Phnom Penh, February 25, 2019 — General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party and President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong, began his two-day state visit in Cambodia this afternoon.

The Vietnamese top leader was warmly welcomed upon his arrival at Phnom Penh International Airport by Samdech Chaufea Veang Kong Sam Ol, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Royal Palace, and H.E. Mrs. Men Sam An, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Assembly-Senate Relations and Inspection.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong will stay in Cambodia until Feb. 26, 2019. This visit was made at the invitation of His Majesty Preah Bat Samdech Preah Boromneath Norodom Sihamoni, King of Cambodia.

During the two-day stay, H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong will have a separate audience with His Majesty the King and Her Majesty the Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk, at the Royal Palace.

The Vietnamese president will also call on His Holiness Buddhist Supreme Patriarch General Tep Vong, Supreme Patriarch of Dhamma Mahanikaya, and His Holiness Samdech Preah Abhisiri Sugandha Mohasangharajah Dhipati Bour Kry, Great Supreme Patriarch of Dhammayuttikanikaya of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

H.E. Nguyen Phu Trong will receive separate calls by Samdech Vibol Sena Pheakdei Say Chhum, President of the Senate, Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, President of the National Assembly, and Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The Vietnamese President will also join Samdech Techo Prime Minister Hun Sen to witness the signing of a number of documents.
