DPM Samdech Sar Kheng Meets Chairman of HCM City People’s Committee

Phnom Penh, January 10, 2019 –Samdech Kralahom Sar Kheng, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, held talks in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam yesterday with Chairman of HCM City People’s Committee H.E. Nguyen Thanh Phong.

According to Vietnam News Agency (VNA), in the meeting, H.E. Nguyen Thanh Phong lauded the visit exchanges between both sides, underlining that over the past time, partnerships between the city and Cambodian localities, including Phnom Penh capital city, have been tightened through delegation exchanges.

HCM City wishes to maintain delegation exchanges between agencies and organisations of the two countries, and increase cooperation projects in agriculture, transportation and waste treatment, he said.

H.E. Nguyen Thanh Phong stressed that HCM City is willing to share its experience with Cambodian localities in sustainable urban  building, management and development, and climate change response, contributing to the “fine neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation” between the two countries.

He used the occasion to congratulate Cambodia on achievement the country has recorded over the past time, and the Cambodian People’s Party on its victory in the sixth general elections last July.

For his part, Samdech Sar Kheng spoke highly of HCM City’s hosting the 10th Meeting on Cooperation and Development between Border Provinces of Cambodia and Vietnam.

The Cambodian DPM thanked Vietnam for its wholehearted and effective support to Cambodia over the past 40 years, saying Cambodia wishes to build long-term and effective cooperation with Vietnam, including HCM City, thus bringing pragmatic interests to people of both sides.

Samdech Sar Kheng also highlighted HCM City’s cooperation and support to Cambodian localities, especially Phnom Penh, and expressed his hope for more assistance from the Vietnamese city across fields.
