PM Attributes Success of Win-Win Policy to Mutual Trust

AKP Phnom Penh, December 29, 2018 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has stressed that the special point of Win-Win Policy implementation between 1996 and 1998 is no single use of bullet.

At the inauguration ceremony of the Win-Win Memorial and the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Win-Win Policy which put an end to the civil war in Cambodia, held here this morning, the Premier attributed the success of the policy to the mutual trust between the Cambodians, and without foreign commands.

Guarantee of life and survival, employment and occupation, and property ownership are the three main factors to build trust of the Khmer Rouge forces on the Royal Government, he explained.

Thanks to this mutual trust, Samdech Techo Prime Minister underlined, peace remains strong and long-lasting until now.

The Win-Win policy cannot stop with the reintegration of Khmer Rouge forces into the Royal Government, but the real success is development through infrastructure connectivity, school and hospital construction, etc. on the former territory governed by the Khmer Rouge, he added.

According to the Premier, the Win-Win policy began in Oral area of Kampong Speu province in early 1996 until Dec. 29, 2018.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen took the opportunity to thank the late Senate President Samdech Akka Moha Thamma Pothisal Chea Sim, National Assembly President and Honourary President of the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) Samdech Akka Moha Ponhea Chakrei Heng Samrin, CPP members, Samdech Krom Preah Norodom Rannariddh, President of Supreme Privy Councilor to His Majesty the King of Cambodia and President of FUNCINPEC Party, the armed forces, and all his compatriots for their support to the implementation of Win-Win policy.
