Cambodia To Celebrate the 70th Anniversary of Universal Declaration of Human Rights

AKP Phnom Penh, December 07, 2018 -Different stakeholders will join hands to mark the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on Dec 10, 2018, according to a UN’s press release.

Various activities will take place around the world to commemorate this historic date.

In Cambodia, UN Human Rights, in partnership with the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, and the UN Country Team, has launched a three-month nationwide campaign to highlight the importance of this unique document.

The campaign will culminate with a big celebration in Phnom Penh on Saturday Dec. 8 to mark the special anniversary at the National Olympic Stadium.

The event programme includes original performances by Phare, the Cambodian Circus, and live music performances by Laura Mam, Mr Oun and Khmeng Khmer, in addition to informal presentations by Youth Organisations.

The Celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights is organised by the UN Human Rights Office, the UN Country Team, the Cambodian Human Rights Committee, and the European Union, with additional support from the Governments of Australia, Belgium, Germany, Sweden, and the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation.
