Samdech Techo Hun Sen Receives Director-General of UNESCO

AKP Phnom Penh, December 04, 2018 -Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has received visiting Ms. Audrey Azoulay, Director General of UNESCO, during her visit to Cambodia to attend the celebration of 25th Anniversary of the International Coordinating Committee for the Safeguarding and Development of the Historic Site of Angkor (ICC-Angkor).

H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Prime Minister, told reporters that during the meeting taking place in Siem Reap provincial city this morning, Ms. Audrey Azoulay expressed her appreciation for the model success in the safeguarding and development of this World Heritage Site in the past 25 years.

The UNESCO director-general thanked the Royal Government of Cambodia and the APSARA Authority for their efforts in preserving the Historic Site of Angkor. She also was committed to continue safeguarding and to contribute to addressing all challenges in order to preserve this World Heritage Site.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed the history of Angkor area conservation until it was listed as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

The Cambodian Premier thanked Japan for its initiative to inscribe Angkor on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
