Cambodian PM Meets Vice Chairperson of NPC Standing Committee

AKP Phnom Penh, November 03, 2018 —Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call by H.E. Zhang Chunxian, Vice Chairperson of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress of China (NPC), here at Peace Palace yesterday afternoon.

According to the Cambodian Premier’s official Facebook page, H.E. Zhang Chunxian said during this third visit to Cambodia, he noted that the Kingdom has progressed in all sectors, especially Cambodian people live with freedom and in peace. He thus lauded the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) and Samdech Techo Hun Sen for their leadership.

Despite different comments over Cambodian from the Western world, he affirmed that the more than 1 billion Chinese people have known clearly and supported Samdech Techo Prime Minister.

The NPC vice chairperson spoke highly of Cambodia-China relationship, stressing that it has become a “steel” friendship and both Chinese leaders and people have always been grateful to Cambodia for its irreversible support to the One China policy.

In reply, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked H.E. Zhang Chunxian for his comments on the relations between Cambodia and China, and highly appreciated China’s numerous assistance to Cambodia. He also expressed his pride for having contributed to the strengthening and expanding the two countries’ ties.

The Cambodian Premier told his guest about Cambodia’s economic growth this year, projected to be around 7.3 percent, the highest growth in the region, and over 7 percent in 2019 even with the EU’s threat to withdraw the preferential Everything But Arms (EBA) scheme.

Regarding this issue, H.E. Zhang Chunxian pledged to encourage the Chinese side to expand their market for Cambodian products which, according to him, have high quality.
