UNCTAD Secretary General to Help Promoting Cambodia’s Competiveness

AKP Phnom Penh, October 23, 2018 —Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) H.E. Mukhisa Kituyi has affirmed to continue helping to enhance Cambodia’s competitiveness at the international market, especially on the export of bicycles and other products.

The affirmation was made while H.E. Mukhisa Kituyi was received on Oct. 22 by Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, during his stay in Geneva, Switzerland for the UNTAD 2018 World Investment Forum (WIF), according to the Cambodian Premier’s official Facebook page.

H.E. Mukhisa Kituyi expressed his warm welcome to Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s presence at the UNCTAD 2018 WIF, adding that the 6,600 participants, including 10 presidents and 3 prime ministers, will listen to Samdech Techo Hun Sen’s keynote address at this international event on Oct. 23.

H.E. Mukhisa Kituyi considered Cambodia as a strong will country which has transformed itself from a least developed nation into a lower middle-income economy and kept going forward.

The UNCTAD secretary general also regarded Cambodia as a model for other countries in advancing development.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his delight to meet again with H.E. Mukhisa Kituyi after the first meeting in Phnom Penh.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister thanked UNCTAD for its assistance to Cambodia and welcomed its promise to continue boosting the economy and alleviating poverty in Cambodia.
