Samdech Techo Hun Sen Receives Cambodian Youth Delegation for 45th SSEAYP

AKP Phnom Penh, October 16, 2018 —Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here this morning the Cambodian youth delegates who have been selected to attend the 45th Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Programme (45h SSEAYP) to be held from Oct. 23 to Dec. 12, 2018.

Mr. Nay Sem Naroth, head of the 29-member delegation, informed the Premier of the 52-day programme and asked him for recommendations.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen briefed the delegates on the history of Cambodia, from the establishment of capital in Phnom Penh to civil wars and to the achievement of full peace in 1998.

The Prime Minister explained to them the four main factors that Cambodia decided to apply for ASEAN’s membership – non-interference in each other’s internal affairs, community spirit (consensus), socio-economic development benefits, and Cambodia’s diplomatic exit.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also recommended them to maintain good solidarity among them because they represent the whole 16 million Cambodian population and to build strong friendships with youths from other countries.

SSEAYP was created in 1974 to foster friendship and greater understanding among youths from ASEAN and Japan as well as to promote regional cooperation.
