Cambodia’s New Cabinet Holds First Meeting

AKP Phnom Penh, September 07, 2018 —The first meeting of the six-mandate cabinet was held this morning under the chairmanship of re-elected Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen.

The Premier and his cabinet ministers were given a vote of confidence by the 125 newly-elected lawmakers at the first session of the sixth legislature of the National Assembly (NA) on Sept. 6.

His new cabinet is composed of 10 deputy prime ministers, 17 senior ministers, and 29 ministers.

The State Secretariat of Civil Aviation under the Council of Ministers is also in the list of the approval. A minister is in charge of the State Secretariat.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen pledged yesterday to lead the country’s executive body to achieve the Royal Government’s political agenda in accordance with the promise made by his Cambodian People’s Party to the people before the election.

In 2019, a special focus will be made on concrete interventions such as increase in garment workers’ wage, in salary and retiring pension of all civil servants, retirees and veterans, reduction of electricity fees, implementation of some prioritised social protection schemes for pregnant women, under-two-year-old children, poor households and so on, he underlined.
