AKP Phnom Penh, June 15, 2018 —Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, attended the Ayeyawady-Chao Phraya-Mekong Economic Cooperation Strategy (ACMECS) 2018 CEO Forum on “Connecting our Future: Enhancing ACMECS Cooperation and Integration” at Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand, this morning.
According to the official Facebook page of the Cambodian Premier, the forum attracted leaders of all ACMECS member states, big investors, development partners, representatives of Chambers of Commerce of all member states, ASEAN secretary general, representatives of world’s main financial institutions, and relevant officials.
In his keynote address, Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly valued, supported and agreed with the good recommendations of ACMECS Business Council aiming at achieving the ACMECS’s goals and vision, i.e. strengthening close cooperation and integration to boost progress and in-depth development for the whole region in accordance with the ACMECS 2019-2023 master Plan.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen laid stress on some sharp, concrete and realistic measures taken by the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) such as trade coordination through establishment of One Window Service, simplification and automation of customs procedures, pricing, reduction of both formal and informal fees, along with institutional reform for import-export facilitation and acceleration.
For soft connectivity, he added, the RGC has been preparing the master plan on logistics sector, together with digital connectivity. Meanwhile, the RGC has been expanding and improving Sihanoukville sea port up to 14 metres deep to handle bigger cargo ships, along with expressway construction from Phnom Penh capital to this deep-sea port through Public Private Partnership (PPP) mechanism.
The Cambodian Prime Minister also underlined the RGC’s efforts to further reduce electricity costs and establish a SMEs (small and medium enterprises) bank and Cambodian entrepreneurship development foundation as well as its readiness to grab the potential and benefits of growing digital economy.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen took the chance to invite all CEOs and investors to study the concrete real investment opportunities in Cambodia.
