Cambodian PM Receives Chinese Defence Minister

AKP Phnom Penh, June 18, 2018 —Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen received here this afternoon at the Peace Palace visiting Chinese State Councillor and Defence Minister H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe.

According to H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe was impressed with the fast development of Cambodia, compared to his previous visit to the Kingdom six years ago.

H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe also conveyed regards from the Chinese top leaders to Samdech Techo Hun Sen and told him of his visit whose purpose is to push for the implementation of the agreements already agreed by both countries’ leaders and to boost more cooperation between the two nations, especially between their armies.

For his part, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed warm welcome to the visit of H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe and encouraged both sides to continue their partnership in carrying out all the signed agreements because the relationship between the two countries is about “talking and doing, not only talking”.

The Premier thanked the people and Government of China for their continuous support to the development of Cambodia.

Chinese State Councillor and Defence Minister H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe is on a five-day official visit in Cambodia, from June 16 to 20, at the invitation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh.

In the bilateral talk yesterday with Samdech Pichey Sena Tea Banh, H.E. Gen. Wei Fenghe announced a China’s aid package of 645 million Yuan to support the Cambodian military sector, according to Defence Ministry Spokesman H.E. Gen. Chhum Socheat.

Both sides will continue their cooperation in organising their joint military exercise, Golden Dragon, next year, he added.
