AKP Phnom Penh, May 31, 2018 —Battambang Conch Cement Company Limited began its official operation this morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen.
This US$230 million fifth cement factory is situated at Phnom Daun May area in Sdao commune, Ratanak Mondul district, Battambang province. It was built on 316 hectares of land since late 2016 under a joint venture investment project by Conch International Holding (HK) Limited and Battambang KT Cement Co., Ltd. The factory can produce up to 5,000 tons of cement per day or 2 million tons annually.
According to the Ministry of Mines and Energy, with the current development pace, Cambodia needs between 7 and 8 million tons of cement annually. Cambodia has to date five cement manufacturers.
The other four factories, all located in Kampot province, are the US$180 million K Cement, US$99 million Cambodia Cement Chakrey Ting Factory Co., Ltd., US$45 million Thai Boon Roong Cement Co., Ltd., and US$262 million Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation.
