Cambodia Marks 155th Anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day

AKP Phnom Penh, May 08, 2018 –Cambodia celebrates here this morning at the Cambodian Red Cross (CRC)’s headquarters the 155th Anniversary of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day under the theme “CRC is everywhere, for everybody by leaving no one behind.”

The event was presided over by Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen, President of CRC.

CRC’s members and volunteers across the country, parliamentarians, government officials, local and foreign donors, representative of International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) attended the celebration aiming to promote the humanitarian value and raise fund to help vulnerable people, including victims of disasters and other risks without discrimination of race, religion, and political tendency.

Speaking on the occasion, the Premier spoke highly of the achievements of CRC obtained from the solidarity of the general public. He also appreciated the efforts of all the CRC’s members and volunteers and thanked the charitable people, including foreign investors, for their donations to support the CRC’s humanitarian activities.

Last year’s celebration under the theme “Cambodian Red Cross is Everywhere for Everyone” collected in total US$13.4 million from 523 local and foreign donors.
