Samdech Techo Hun Sen Presides Over the Closing Ceremony of MAFF’s Annual Meeting

AKP Phnom Penh, May 02, 2018 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen presided over here this afternoon the closing ceremony of the annual meeting of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF).

Addressing to the event, Samdech Techo Hun Sen thanked all relevant institutions and farmers for their efforts and attention to the development of the agricultural sector, and gave some recommendations to further boost the sector which contributed actively to the country’s annual economic growth of 7 percent on average.

On the occasion, the Premier also gave awards to the winners of Model Farmers programme and cut red ribbon to inaugurate a newly-constructed five-storey office building of MAFF dubbed “Rumduol”, the national flower of Cambodia.

According to the MAFF’s report, the agricultural sector has contributed approximately 24.9 percent to the GDP, while the Agricultural Gross Value Added (GVA) increases every year.

The agricultural productivity rose in the last three years from 0.2 percent in 2015 to nearly 2 percent in 2017 and 2018, it added.
