AKP Phnom Penh, April 23, 2018 – Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen inaugurated this morning the Royal Sands Koh Rong hotel at Koh Rong, an island of Preah Sihanouk province.
Invested by a local investor, this hotel has been developed into a five-star hotel with 67 villas or 148 rooms, plus a standard swimming pool in each villa, with an investment capital of some US$40 million in the first stage.
It is a new achievement of the tourism development in the southwestern part of Cambodia.
Koh Rong is some 25 kilometre off Preah Sihanouk province. It stretches over an area of approximately 78 square kilometre (30 sq mi). It is a popular tourism and bio-diversity of Cambodia’s coastal area.
In February this year, the royal government established Koh Rong marine national park with a total land area of 52,448 hectares – about 90 percent of which is the sea. The park does not include private land and areas used for public benefits. Islands included in the park are Koh Rong, Koh Rong Samloem, Koh Koun, Koh Touch, Koh Tatiem, Koh Mnoas Krav, and Koh Mnoas Knong.
