AKP Siem Reap, April 05, 2018 –The Prime Ministerial Retreat of the 3rd Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit was held in Siem Reap city, Siem Reap province this morning under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen of the Kingdom of Cambodia.
This meeting was attended by the Prime Minister of Laos H.E. Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of Vietnam H.E. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, and Prime Minister of Thailand H.E. Prayut Chan-o-cha, as well as senior representatives of China, Myanmar and MRC development partners.
In his remarks on the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said this retreat summit provided another opportunity for the leaders of MRC member countries to strengthen and expand their long-term relationship.
According to the Premier, this summit mainly focused on the enhancement of implementation of the 1995 Mekong Agreement, and the role of MRC in regional cooperation.
This retreat summit also reviewed the progress and achievements obtained by MRC in boosting regional cooperation, discussed challenges and set forth strategic goals to promote the joint efforts and partnership cooperation to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals in the Mekong River Basin.
