Cambodia Celebrates the 107th International Women’s Day

AKP Phnom Penh, March 08, 2018 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and his spouse, Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen, presided over here this morning the commemoration of the 107th International Women’s Day at Koh Pich Theatre, Phnom Penh.

This year’s celebration was held under the theme of “Women together to maintain peace for the national development.”

On the occasion, Samdech Techo Hun Sen expressed his continued support to women’s roles in the country development. The Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) has been urging people, both women and men, to take part in maintaining peace, social order and the culture of non-violence which are the key factors for the development in all domains, he underlined.

The Premier also reiterated the RGC’s commitment to enhance women’s welfare and roles in the national development, including support package for pregnancy care, encouragement of women’s participation in all sectors and so on.

According to Samdech Techo Hun Sen, the number of women in the civil service sector increased from 32 percent in 2007 to 41 percent in 2017. Now, there are 23 women at the post of Director General and 108 at the post of Department Director.
