Samdech Techo Hun Sen: Elections To Be Held As Scheduled

AKP Phnom Penh, January 18, 2018 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has reaffirmed that the forthcoming elections will be held as scheduled without neither cancellation nor delay, according to a post on his official Facebook page this morning.

“This morning, I read a Phnom Penh Post’s article titled ‘After Rainsy calls for future protests, Hun Sen says elections will not take place amidst chaos’ saying that I may call off or postpone the upcoming elections,” he said.

“With no more explanation, I’d like just to confirm that the already-set schedule for the Senate Election on Feb. 25, 2018 and the National Election on July 29, 2018 will not be changed,” he added.

According to the Ministry of Interior, a total of 35 political parties have been registered at the ministry. Besides, there are more than 20 new political parties formed, however, they have not been registered, therefore they are not recognised.
