        At the invitation of Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo HUN SEN, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, His Excellency Li Keqiang, Prime Minister of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Thongloun Sisoulith, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, His Excellency Myint Swe, Vice President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, His Excellency General Prayut Chan-o-cha, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand, and His Excellency Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, will lead their respective delegations to attend the 2nd Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting to be held on 10 January 2018 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

Samdech Techo Prime Minister will co-chair with Premier H.E. Li Keqiang this important meeting under the theme “Our River of Peace and Sustainable Development”. The six leaders of the Mekong-Lancang Cooperation will discuss key issues to develop the Mekong sub-region with strong focus on the commitment to maintain peace, stability, sustainable development and prosperity of the Mekong sub-region.

The 2nd MLC LM will also stress the importance of the socio-economic development of sub-regional countries, in term of enhancing the well-being of their people, narrowing the development gap among countries in support of the ASEAN Community building as well as advancing South-South cooperation to further contribute to the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

It is expected that the following four documents will be adopted :

  1. Phnom Penh Declaration of the Second Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Leaders’ Meeting;
  2. Five-Year Action Plan of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation 2018-2022;
  3. Joint List of 2nd Batch of Cooperation Projects; and
  4. Reports of the Six Joint Working Groups of Priority Areas.

 

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Handover Ceremony of Chairmanship to Lao PDR will be held to be followed by the Joint Press Conference of the co-chair.
