Press Release H.E. Prak Sokhonn and H.E. HORINOUCHI Hidehisa, will sign on the Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on the extension of Grant Aid for the purpose of implementation of the Project for Urgent Replacement of Bridges in Flood-Prone Areas on 03 October 2017.

On 03 October 2017, at 10:00 a.m., at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, His Excellency Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Cambodia, and His Excellency HORINOUCHI Hidehisa, Ambassador of Japan to Cambodia, will sign the Exchange of Notes and Record of Discussions on the extension of Grant Aid up to the amount of JYP 3,942,000,000 (Approximately USD 35 million) for the purpose of implementation of the Project for Urgent Replacement of Bridges in Flood-Prone Areas.

Under the above-said project, 5 bridges on National Road number 73 in Kratie Province and 2 others on National Road number 11 in Prey Veng Province will be constructed to replace the current ones in order to strengthen the transportation capacity along the two national roads.

It is worth noting that since April 2017, Cambodia has received approximately USD 249 million of Japan’s Official Development Assistance which consist of approximately USD 40 million grant aid for human resource development, and flood protection and drainage improvement in Phnom Penh Capital and approximately USD 209 million concessional loan for new container terminal development at Sihanoukville port.
