On the morning of 10 September 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from H.E. Takahashi Fumiaki, President of the Japan-Cambodia Association (JCA), and his delegation at the Peace Palace.
During the meeting, the President of the JCA expressed his profound gratitude to Samdech Thipadei for consistently making time to receive JCA delegations for successive courtesy calls and discussions. He briefed Samdech Thipadei on the activities undertaken during the current business visit, during which the JCA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the General Department of Administration of the Ministry of Interior aimed at promoting Japanese small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) currently operating in Cambodia. He also noted the JCA’s planned meetings with leaders of several relevant ministries and institutions to further strengthen and deepen cooperation. He emphasised that the JCA places high priority on strengthening cooperation with Cambodia across three main pillars: technical and vocational skills training, agricultural development, and digital industry development. On that occasion, the JCA delegation also informed Samdech Thipadei of its plans to expand the scope of its investment activities. These key initiatives include: (1) processing agricultural products such as golden silk and tilapia to meet domestic market demand as well as for export to Japan and global markets; and (2) providing vocational training in beauty care and cosmetics, alongside partnering with TOYOTA to train automotive maintenance technicians. Furthermore, to promote broader awareness of Cambodia’s Law on Investment, the JCA plans to organise a seminar in Japan in the near future to provide Japanese companies with a clearer understanding of Cambodia’s investment climate, policy framework, and available incentives.
In response, Samdech Thipadei thanked the JCA for its dedicated efforts to promote Cambodia’s potential and continuously attract Japanese companies to invest in Cambodia. At the same time, Samdech Thipadei expressed his great pleasure at the positive development of cooperation between Cambodia and the JCA and expressed his firm belief that this excellent cooperation would continue to serve as a good model for attracting more Japanese investors to Cambodia in the future. Samdech Thipadei also recalled the strong cooperation between Cambodia and Japan in transforming the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port into a regional port and logistics centre. In this regard, he expressed high hopes that the Cambodia–Japan Special Economic Zone would be established and continue to develop in the future.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the JCA delegation to continue engaging in discussions and working closely with relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to ensure the success of investment and cooperation between the two countries.
