On the evening of 15 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Zhang Wei, Founder, Chairman of the Board, and Chief Executive Officer of Beijing Star AI Co., Ltd., on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, the Chief Executive Officer briefed Samdech Thipadei on the company’s business operations, noting that Beijing Star AI is a leading technology company specialising in AI-generated content (AIGC), particularly AI-powered video creation and film production. In addition, it is the first company in the world to establish a comprehensive one-stop AIGC community and has developed and launched the world’s first film-grade AI Agent system. He also informed Samdech Thipadei of the company’s cooperation with local partners in Cambodia to explore investment opportunities in artificial intelligence, focusing on four key initiatives: the ASEAN Regional Intelligent Computing Centre, the Film-Grade AI Agent Research and Development Centre, the Cross-Border AI Short Drama Distribution Centre, and the ASEAN Digital Commerce Operations Centre.
In response, Samdech Thipadei congratulated the company on its successful business operations and welcomed its interest in exploring investment opportunities in artificial intelligence in Cambodia. He emphasised that the technology sector is one of the Royal Government’s key priorities under the Pentagonal Strategy – Phase I, which places strong emphasis on advancing Cambodia’s technological development. In this regard, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to maintain close engagement with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, particularly the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications, in order to identify and seize concrete investment opportunities in Cambodia.
