On the afternoon of 9 June 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia received a courtesy call from His Excellency Bui Quang Huy, First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, during his official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and participation in the 3rd ASEAN Future Forum (AFF), held in Hanoi on 8–9 June 2026.
During the meeting, the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union briefed Samdech Thipadei on the fruitful outcomes of the recent working meeting between the Central Youth of the Cambodian People’s Party and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. The youth organisations of the two countries agreed to jointly organise a series of commemorative events and activities, particularly in the border provinces, to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Viet Nam in 2027.
In response, Samdech Thipadei highly valued the meaningful discussions and the continued mutual understanding between the Central Youth of the Cambodian People’s Party and the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union. He emphasised that relations between the youth of the two countries constitute a crucial foundation for Cambodia–Viet Nam relations. Samdech Thipadei encouraged the youth of Cambodia and Viet Nam, as well as those of Cambodia, Laos, and Viet Nam, to establish regular communication mechanisms, particularly through annual exchanges, in order to strengthen solidarity and friendship and continue cultivating the excellent traditional ties inherited from previous generations of leaders of the two countries.
Samdech Thipadei expressed his full support for the initiative of the youth organisations of the two countries to organise commemorative programmes and activities marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cambodia and Viet Nam in 2027. He added that, at the governmental level, the two countries had also agreed to jointly organise a series of activities and events to commemorate this historic milestone in a more diverse, meaningful, and impactful manner.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei and the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union reaffirmed that enhancing mutual understanding and exchanges at all levels constitute a vital foundation for preserving the traditional friendship between the two countries, further deepening bilateral relations, and elevating them to a new level.
