AOT Conducts Observation, Verification, and Reporting on Border Situation in Sampov Loun and Phnom Proek Districts

At 8:25 a.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the Cambodian Liaison Group (CLG) of the Kingdom of Cambodia coordinated the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) to conduct observation, verification, and reporting on the border situation in the areas of Sampov Loun and Phnom Proek Districts, Battambang Province, following the entry into force of the ceasefire, and inspecting civilian sites and infrastructure, such as housing and a referral hospital, all of which sustained severe damage during the Thai military attack in December 2025.

At the same time, Cambodia has consistently provided its full support to the ASEAN Observer Team (AOT) and has emphasized the indispensable importance of strengthening the role and mandate of the AOT in order to verify and ensure the full and effective implementation of the ceasefire, to promote transparency, accountability, and mutual trust.

The Royal Government and the Ministry of National Defence of Cambodia reaffirm our firm and clear commitment to fully, strictly, and responsibly respect and implement the Joint Statement of the 3rd Special Meeting of the Cambodia–Thailand General Border Committee (GBC) dated December 27, 2025, the Joint Declaration on the Peace Agreement between Cambodia and Thailand dated October 26, 2025, as well as other relevant agreements, in order to move toward rapid improvement and a return to normalcy, peace, stability, and long-term security along the border.
