On 25 August 2025, starting from 2:20 PM, Thai military forces attempted to lay barbed wire at Chork Chey Village, O’Bei Choan Commune, O’Chrov District, Banteay Meanchey Province, Cambodia, opposite Nong Chan Village, Khok Sung District, Sa Kaeo Province, Thailand.
However, they were strongly prevented by Cambodian villagers and authorities in Chork Chey Village, which led the Thai forces to withdraw the barbed wire.
Cambodia urges the Thai side to fully and strictly respect the ceasefire, and in particular, the spirit of the Extraordinary Meeting of the Regional Border Committee (RBC) between Cambodia’s Military Region 5 and Thailand’s 1st Army Area held on 22 August 2025, regarding refraining from expanding disputed areas and avoiding actions that could lead to heightened tensions.
Cambodia reaffirms that all disputes related to border issues must be resolved through the Joint Border Commission (JBC) of both countries, in accordance with the spirit of the 2000 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU 2000)
