AKP, August 01, 2017 –Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has appealed to all social media users, especially the youths, to be more careful when sharing or posting something.

“Don’t share or post something that could cause turmoil in society or danger to the nation,” said here this morning the Cambodian premier at a graduation ceremony of the Royal University of Law and Economics.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen also advised them to verify the information before sharing and posting because recently, many baseless and useless information have been shared and posted on social media such as plane crash in Siem Reap, his health condition, child abduction, … which may lead to social chaos and conflicts.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Interior made a public announcement on the beginning of the investigation into rumours on social media.

Gen. Keat Chantharith, Spokesperson of the General Commissariat of National Police (GCNP), affirmed that Cambodian authorities will take legal action against any social media user proven guilty.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen further confirmed the Cambodian authorities’ full competence to take legal action against any social media user who violated the laws. “Even you (hackers) hack others’ account, the authorities are fully competent to find you,” he stressed.
