Philippine Agriculture Secretary Commits to Strengthening and Deepening Agricultural Cooperation with Cambodia

 
On the afternoon of 23 October 2026, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Francisco P. Tiu Laurel, Jr., Secretary of Agriculture of the Republic of the Philippines, and his delegation.

During the meeting, the Secretary expressed his profound gratitude for the warm welcome and hospitality extended to him and his delegation during their visit to Cambodia and participation in the Cambodia Agriculture Forum and Exhibition 2026 (CAFE26). He regarded Cambodia as a longstanding friend and important partner of the Philippines. He highly valued the growing relations between the two countries and affirmed his commitment to further strengthening and expanding bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in agriculture and trade. He also highlighted the potential of the Philippine agricultural sector and expressed interest in expanding exports of agricultural products, including marine fish and fresh fruit, to the Cambodian market. He further encouraged closer private-sector ties between the two countries to explore new opportunities that would benefit both countries and their peoples.

In response, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the Philippine Secretary of Agriculture’s visit to Cambodia. He noted that frequent high-level exchanges between the two countries’ leaders reflected the strengthening of their bonds of friendship and provided new opportunities to deepen cooperation. He also expressed satisfaction with the progress made in bilateral relations​ and cooperation, noting the steady growth in bilateral trade, and underscored the importance of strengthening intra-ASEAN trade to enhance regional resilience, supply chain stability, and food security. Samdech Thipadei agreed on the importance of business-to-business engagement through regular business-matching forums, as well as student exchanges to develop human capital and exchange experience and skills in agriculture.
