PM Shares Positive Trend of Cambodia’s Macro-economy

Phnom Penh, October 03, 2019 –Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has highlighted the positive trend of the Kingdom’s macro-economy.

While presiding over a graduation ceremony of BELTEI International University held here yesterday, the Premier said that this year’s customs revenue may exceed the set plan by US$800 million, while the current cash surplus is more than US$15 billion with over 30 tonnes of gold reserves.

In the first nine months, customs revenue has already reached 105 percent of the yearly plan or US$2,384 million, without including the non-fiscal revenue, he underlined.

“We earn about US$500 million a month and spend around US$300 million, so we save some US$200 million,” Samdech Hun Sen continued.

Of the 30 tonnes of gold reserves, Samdech Techo Prime Minister said, 12 tonnes is inheritance being deposited at a bank in Switzerland, 15 tonnes had been bought by the National Bank of Cambodia and deposited in London, the United Kingdom, and the rest (3 tons) in Phnom Penh.
