AKP Phnom Penh, June 27, 2018 —Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has affirmed that the Royal Government will continue to spread factories throughout the country.
Addressing to a get-together with more than 24,000 workers from five factories in Samaky Meanchey district, Kampong Chhnang province this morning, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said the Royal Government has been doing its best to attract investments and encourage the establishment of factories in province since 1999.
“Was there any factory in Kampong Chhnang province before? […] But now, Kampong Chhnang has more than 40,000 workers. If Kampong Chhnang had no factories, you (workers) would do the farming with your parents without receiving the monthly wage of US$170, or you would leave your homeland for a job in Phnom Penh where you would spend more money on your daily expenses such as food and accommodation,” he underlined.
The policy of spreading factories to province has been giving benefits and increasing income of the local people, he added.
Up to now, the Premier has met with 605,212 workers and employees in Phnom Penh capital and the provinces of Kampong Cham, Kampong Speu, Svay Rieng, Kandal, Preah Sihanouk, and Takeo since Aug. 20, 2017.
There are currently 152 factories and enterprises in Kampong Chhnang province, employing some 43,772 workers and employees.
