On the morning of 17 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Chen Yan, President of Royal Vopak China and North Asia Business Unit, and his delegation on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, the Company President briefed the Prime Minister on the company’s business operations, highlighting that Royal Vopak (Koninklijke Vopak N.V.) is highly specialised in providing storage and infrastructure solutions for oil, gas, petrochemical products, liquefied natural gas (LNG), and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG). Furthermore, the company focuses on several core areas, including new and sustainable energy storage, gas terminals, industrial petrochemical terminals, chemical terminals, and oil terminals. The President added that the company is currently collaborating with local partners in Cambodia to explore investment opportunities for the establishment of a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal and a refinery terminal in the country.
In response, Samdech Thipadei welcomed Royal Vopak’s intention to invest in Cambodia and its collaboration with local partner companies. He emphasised that the plan to explore investment opportunities in LNG and refinery terminals aligns perfectly with the Royal Government of Cambodia’s vision to develop energy infrastructure, aimed at ensuring Cambodia’s future energy security.
In conclusion, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to further strengthen its close collaboration with its Cambodian partners and to engage in more detailed discussions with relevant ministries and institutions—particularly the Ministry of Mines and Energy—to successfully bring these investment plans to fruition.
