On the afternoon of 17 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr. Ye Weidong, President of Shanghai Construction Group Co., Ltd. (SCG), and his delegation, on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, the President of SCG briefed Samdech Thipadei on the company’s business operations in China, its international operations, and its activities in Cambodia. He noted that the company has been investing in Cambodia since 2004 and has participated in the construction of numerous major infrastructure projects, including roads, hydropower dams, major bridges, and other key infrastructure. The company is currently undertaking the construction of two additional national roads in the Kingdom of Cambodia. At the same time, the President expressed the company’s interest in further expanding its investment in Cambodia’s infrastructure development.
In response, Samdech Thipadei highly commended the company’s significant contribution to Cambodia’s infrastructure development. He emphasised that infrastructure remains one of the Royal Government’s highest priorities and that it has consistently attached great importance to infrastructure development. He also reaffirmed the Royal Government’s continued support for the company’s business operations and the implementation of its various projects in Cambodia. Furthermore, he encouraged the company to contribute to training Cambodian human resources in infrastructure construction and engineering.
In conclusion, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the company to maintain close engagement with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to support the continued success of its business operations in Cambodia.
