On the morning of 17 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Qian Zhenhua, President of the Shanghai International Association for Small and Medium Enterprises (SIAB), who led a delegation comprising representatives of Sinopec (China) and the Cambodia National Trade and Investment Promotion Association (CamTIPA). The meeting took place during Samdech Thipadei’s working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, the President of the Association expressed the strong confidence that Chinese investors and citizens have in Cambodia’s continued development and economic growth, and highlighted the country’s considerable investment potential, particularly its young, dynamic and capable workforce. He also conveyed Sinopec (China)’s interest in exploring business and investment opportunities in Cambodia, as well as the plans of both the Association and the company to establish partnerships with Cambodian small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in emerging sectors, including the digital economy, renewable energy, and infrastructure. He further noted that the Association and Sinopec planned to organise a business delegation of Chinese enterprises to visit Cambodia in the near future.
In response, Samdech Thipadei welcomed the Association’s and the compnay’s interest in exploring business and investment opportunities in Cambodia and establishing partnerships with Cambodian SMEs. Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the SME sector is of great importance and remains a priority of the Royal Government of Cambodia, given its significant contribution to economic growth and employment generation. He further noted that the Royal Government has been promoting and encouraging SMEs to manufacture domestically produced supporting products to meet market demand.
In conclusion, Samdech Thipadei encouraged the Association and the company to maintain close engagement with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions, conduct detailed studies, and seize concrete investment opportunities in Cambodia.
