Cambodia and China Commit to Jointly Strengthening and Deepening Cooperation

On the morning of July 16, 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, held a bilateral meeting with H.E. Li Qiang, Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, on the occasion of his working visit to the People’s Republic of China and his participation in the 2026 World AI Conference, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.

During the meeting, Premier Li Qiang expressed his great pleasure at meeting Samdech Thipadei once again for bilateral discussions. He highlighted that China and Cambodia maintain frequent high-level exchanges and close communication across all levels and sectors, reflecting the strength of their bilateral relations and the continued advancement of cooperation. Premier Li Qiang emphasised that China and Cambodia enjoy strong relations and are “Ironclad Friends”, and reaffirmed that the two countries would continue to support one another in advancing their respective modernisation efforts while contributing to addressing global uncertainties. He further noted that China regards its relations with Cambodia as a priority in its diplomacy.

In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his profound gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Government and people of China. He highly praised the continued progress of Cambodia–China relations, noting that the two countries are Comprehensive Strategic Partners and Ironclad Friends and are working together to build a Cambodia–China Community with a Shared Future in the New Era. Samdech Thipadei reaffirmed Cambodia’s unwavering adherence to the One-China Principle and reiterated that issues relating to Taiwan, Hong Kong, Xizang, and Xinjiang are the internal affairs of the People’s Republic of China.

The two leaders also exchanged views on a number of initiatives and future directions aimed at further strengthening and deepening cooperation in key sectors, including political and diplomatic affairs, economy and trade, connectivity infrastructure, green energy, agriculture, national defence and security, and people-to-people exchanges, particularly in tourism and education.

Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei briefed the Chinese Premier on the recent developments concerning the Cambodia–Thailand border situation, reaffirming Cambodia’s commitment to resolving border issues peacefully in accordance with international law and the conventions, treaties, and existing agreements between Cambodia and Thailand.
