On the afternoon of 15 July 2026, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from Mr Qiao Xubin, President of China Energy International Group Co. Ltd, and the delegation on the occasion of his working visit and participation in the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in the People’s Republic of China, held from 15 to 17 July 2026.
During the meeting, the President of the company briefed Samdech Thipadei on the company’s business operations in Cambodia and expressed his sincere gratitude to the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions for their excellent cooperation and steadfast support for the company’s operations in Cambodia over the years. He stated that the company initially focused its business operations in Cambodia on Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) projects for major energy infrastructure. He added that the company is now seeking to expand its investment into new sectors, including cement manufacturing, clean water treatment, and renewable energy. He also expressed the company’s pride in having contributed to the development of Cambodia’s energy sector.
In response, Samdech Thipadei expressed his appreciation to the company for its confidence in Cambodia and its decision to invest in the Kingdom, and welcomed its intention to expand its investment in other high-potential sectors in Cambodia. Furthermore, Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the development of the clean energy sector remains a top priority of the Royal Government. Currently, approximately 62% of Cambodia’s energy comes from renewable sources, and the Royal Government is working towards increasing this to 70% by 2030. At the same time, Cambodia is interested in adopting modern technologies to enhance the capacity and efficiency of its existing power sources.
Before concluding the meeting, Samdech Thipadei emphasised that the Royal Government of Cambodia continues to provide strong support to ensure the success and sustainable growth of investment companies in the Kingdom. He also encouraged the company to maintain close engagement with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to ensure the successful implementation of its investments in Cambodia.
