On the morning of 14 October 2025, at the Peace Palace, Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei HUN Manet, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, received a courtesy call from His Excellency Dato’ Sri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Rural and Regional Development of Malaysia.
During the meeting, His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister expressed his profound gratitude to Samdech Borvor Thipadei for allowing him and his delegation to pay a courtesy call and hold a working discussion. His Excellency highly commended the development and progress in Cambodia, including the Techo International Airport. His Excellency expressed his satisfaction with the excellent relations and cooperation between Malaysia and Cambodia and reaffirmed Malaysia’s continued support for expanding and strengthening cooperation in various sectors, including trade, the economy, and people-to-people connectivity.
In response, Samdech Borvor Thipadei welcomed His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister and his delegation, who were visiting Cambodia to attend the 13th ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management (AMMDM) and related meetings in Phnom Penh. Samdech Borvor Thipadei expressed his satisfaction with the remarkable progress of Cambodia-Malaysia relations and cooperation.
Samdech Borvor Thipadei and His Excellency the Deputy Prime Minister also discussed further promoting bilateral cooperation in key sectors, such as the Halal Industry to serve the needs of the Muslim and general populations; tourism, including medical tourism; education and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), agriculture, finance and banking, and others. Samdech Borvor Thipadei encouraged the Malaysian Embassy in Phnom Penh to continue to collaborate with the relevant Cambodian ministries and institutions to achieve the above-mentioned cooperation projects.
On this occasion, Samdech Borvor Thipadei also extended his profound gratitude to His Excellency Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, for facilitating the ceasefire between Cambodia and Thailand, as well as to the Commander-in-Chief of the Malaysian Armed Forces for playing an active role in coordinating the monitoring of the ceasefire’s implementation, and to the Head of the International Observers Team (IOT) in Cambodia for monitoring the ceasefire implementation along the Cambodia-Thailand border.
