PM: Some Economists Incorrectly Forecast the Role of NR6 and Economic Growth of Cambodia

AKP, April 07, 2017 – Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen has made a public criticism to some economists who have incorrectly forecasted the role of National Road No. 6 and the country’s economic growth.

At the inauguration ceremony of a portion of National Road No. 6 from Chhroy Changvar in Sangkat Prek Leap, Phnom Penh to Thnal Keng in Sambo commune, Batheay district, Kampong Cham province yesterday, Samdech Techo Hun Sen said some economists wrongly assessed the necessity of this national road, therefore in the early 1990s, this road was built with only 7 metre wide, but now it was expanded to 26 metre wide.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen laid stress on the significance of National Road No. 6 and called on the economists to understand well about the road development perspective in Cambodia.

The premier also expressed his strong hope that China will continue to support Cambodia’s infrastructure development sector.

In December last year, at the 3rd session of the Ministerial Conference on Transport, held in Moscow, Russia, H.E. Sun Chanthol, Senior Minister and Minister of the Public Works and Transport said Cambodia planned to further invest US$12 billion over the next ten years in infrastructure development, however financing this development is a major, yet critical challenge facing the royal government.
