Cambodia Confirms Energy Independence from Thai Power Supply

AKP | Phnom Penh, June 24, 2025 — Electricité du Cambodge (EDC) has confirmed that Cambodia is not currently importing electricity from Thailand to supply any part of the country.

In a press release issued this afternoon, EDC stated: “Electricité du Cambodge would like to reject any statements that contradict the above facts.”

The clarification follows recent remarks quoted by The Nation Thailand, which cited a senior officer from the Royal Thai Armed Forces as saying that “Cambodia has cut electricity imports from Thailand at three locations along the border, leaving six points still receiving power.”

Recently, Cambodian Minister of Mines and Energy H.E. Keo Rottanak has also reaffirmed that the Kingdom has sufficient domestic electricity supply to meet current demand.
