On 25 September 2024, at the invitation of His Excellency Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, President of Federative Republic of Brazil and President of the G20, along with His Excellency António Guterres, Secretary-General of the United Nations, His Excellency SOK Chenda Sophea, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, attended the 2nd Group of Twenty (G20) Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on the sidelines of the 79th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
This marks the first time that the G20 has invited all UN Member States to attend this meeting, underscoring the importance of inclusiveness and multilateralism. Upon assuming the Presidency of the G20, Brazil outlined its priorities: (1) The fight against hunger, poverty and inequality (2) Sustainable development across economic, social, and environmental dimensions, and (3) the reform of global Governance.
