Phnom Penh, February 28, 2020 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, reiterated his pride of the social and religious harmony in the Kingdom.\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

While presiding over Sroach Srop Preah Sokunveary (bathing ceremony) of three newly appointed deputy chief monks, at Champuos Kaek pagoda located in Khan Chbar Ampov, Phnom Penh this morning, the Premier expressed his high appreciation for the social and religious harmony in Cambodia.<\/p>\n

Samdech Techo Hun Sen encouraged all three main religious groups in the country \u2013 Buddhism, Islam, and Christianity \u2013 to further help Cambodian society come together for social stability and development.<\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said that Cambodia has maintained religious harmony for a long time and all religious groups have been actively contributing to social progress and development in the country.<\/p>\n

All religious groups have been fully respected and protected by the laws, he underlined.<\/p>\n

Buddhism is the state religion of Cambodia. 95 percent of the population of about 15 million are Buddhists. Islam has about 300,000 followers, and some 0.25 percent of Cambodian people follow Christianity, animism and so on.<\/p>\n
