Phnom Penh, October 23, 2019 –Despite the Paris Peace Accords of Oct. 23, 1991, Cambodia continued to face civil war caused by the Democratic Kampuchea (Pol Pot) group.<\/a><\/p>\n Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen made the remarks in a Facebook message this morning, on the occasion of the 28th anniversary of the Paris Peace Agreement.<\/p>\n But, he added, it was the Win-Win policy (launched in Pailin) that completely ended the civil war in 1998 and since then the whole Cambodia has enjoyed full peace and happiness until now.<\/p>\n The Premier also recalled some key historical events regarding the peace negotiations for Cambodia, including the two meetings between the former King of Cambodia, Samdech Preah Norodom Sihanouk, and him (the Sihanouk-Hun Sen negotiations) on Dec. 2, 1987 in F\u00e8re-en-Tardenois, France, and in Saint-Germain-en-Laye on Jan. 20-21, 1988, prior to the conclusion of the Paris Peace Agreement on Oct. 23, 1991.<\/p>\n The Paris Peace Accords offered a Comprehensive Political Settlement of the Cambodia Conflict signed by Cambodia and 18 other nations in the presence of the United Nations Secretary-General.<\/p>\n This led to the first general election in Cambodia in 1993 supervised by the United Nations Transitional Authority in Cambodia (UNTAC).<\/p>\n By C.
