AKP Phnom Penh, March 10, 2018 \u2013Takhmao city of Kandal province, some ten kilometres from Phnom Penh capital, has been hosting the River Festival, the fourth of its kind, from Mar. 9 to 11 under the theme \u201cRiver of Peace, Friendship and Sustainable Tourism.\u201d

The annual event will be officially opened this evening under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen and his spouse Samdech Kittiprittbandit Bun Rany Hun Sen.<\/p>\n

Various activities ranging from sports events, concerts, trade fair and so on have been organised to cherish the three-day festival.<\/p>\n

River Festival is new tourism product with high creativity, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen in his message to his compatriots on the occasion.<\/p>\n

The Premier said River Festival will become a new tourism event for Cambodia which will contribute not only to the promotion of the tourism potential of Cambodian riparian provinces, but also to the support of the Royal Government of Cambodia\u2019s policy on sustainable and responsible riparian area development, particularly local economic development and natural resource protection and conservation.<\/p>\n

The first three river festivals were organised in Kratie in 2015, Kampong Cham in 2016 and Stung Treng in 2017.<\/p>\n
