Jean-Claude Poimboeuf, French Development Agency (AFD) Country Director for Cambodia Mr. Philippe Steinmetz, and H.E. Sim Sitha, Director General of Phnom Penh Water Supply Authority (PPSWA) were also present at the inauguration ceremony.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">On the occasion, the premier expressed his congratulations on this new achievement, saying that it will further boost the clean water supply to citizens in the capital city.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">This new plant can supply a total of 560,000 cubic metres of clean water a day for 331,000 residents in Phnom Penh suburbs and Takhmao city, Kandal province.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">The construction work was carried out by Vinci Constructions Grands Projets while the supervision was done by SAFEGE, said a press release issued at the inauguration ceremony.<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the same source, Niroth Water Treatment Plant was designed to be built in two steps. The first stage, called \u201cNiroth 1\u2033, has been producing 130,000 cubic metres of clean water per day since January 2013, while the construction of the second stage started in August 2014.
