AKP Phnom Penh, March 01, 2018 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, has requested his compatriots to take part in preventing religious conflicts, despite being proud of religious harmonisation across the nation.
Different religious belief is not an obstacle for national development, stressed the premier while presiding over this morning the inauguration ceremony of a Buddhist temple and other achievements in Chey Mongkul pagoda located in Srey Santhor district, Kampong Cham province, adding that some countries are currently in religious war.
This has reflected the right policy of the Royal Government of Cambodia led by the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) for harmony of nationalities and religions without discrimination, he said.
Samdech Techo Hun Sen also expressed his commitment to continue working with leaders of Buddhist, Islam and Christian communities in Cambodia so as to further ensure religious harmonisation in the country.
Cambodia is recognised by her religious freedom even though Buddhism is the state religion. 95 percent of the population of about 15 million are Buddhists. Islam has about 300,000 followers, and some 0.25 percent of Cambodian people follow Christianity, animism and so on.
