Improvement Project of NR2 and NR22 Officially Kicks Off

Phnom Penh, February 11, 2020 –Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, this morning presided over the groundbreaking ceremony for the improvement project of National Road (NR) No. 2 and NR22 from Kandal province to Takeo province.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Cambodia H.E. Park Heung-Kyeong was also present at the event held on NR2 in Khan Dangkor, Phnom Penh.

The road improvement project stretches over 72 kilometres, of which 62.56 kilometres of NR2 from Takhmao roundabout in Kandal province to O’ Chambak in Takeo province, and 9.61 kilometres of NR22 from O’ Chambak to Ang Tasom​ market in Takeo province.

Built by South Korea-based Hanshin Engineering and Construction Co., Ltd., the road improvement project is funded by a loan of US$45.7 million from South Korea and US$8 million from the Royal Government.

The project will take 30 months to complete, according to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.
