PM Gives Green Light to Establishment of National Qualification Commission

AKP Phnom Penh, January 02, 2019 –Cambodian Higher Education Association (CHEA) has been given the green light by Prime Minister Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen to establish the National Qualification Commission.

H.E. Eang Sophalleth, Assistant to the Cambodian Premier, said Samdech Techo Hun Sen supported the proposed creation of this commission when he received a CHEA’s delegation led by Chairman of the Board of Directors Dr. Heng Vanda.

The Premier also appointed Minister of Education, Youth and Sports H.E. Hang Chuon Naron to be the commission’s Chairman. A secretariat, to be created under the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports, must review all sub-decrees related to national qualifications, he added.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen spoke highly of the CHEA’s contribution to the education, humanitarian, and social welfare sectors.

Currently, the Cambodian Higher Education Association has in total 103 state and private higher education institutions as members.
