Samdech Techo Hun Sen Cambodia Prime Minister Departs for Europe This Midnight

AKP Phnom Penh, October 16, 2018 —Samdech Akka Moha Sena Padei Techo Hun Sen, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia, will leave tonight for his mission in Europe, according to his official Facebook page.

“This midnight, at 12:20, I will depart to Belgium for the 12th Asia-Europe Meeting Summit (12th ASEM Summit). After that, I will visit Turkey from Oct. 20 to 22. On Oct. 22, I will leave Turkey for Geneva, Switzerland for a conference on trade. I plan to leave Switzerland on Oct. 24 night and expect to arrive Cambodia on Oct. 25 to chair a meeting on the draft budget law for 2019 on Oct. 26 morning,” said the Premier in a Facebook post this morning.

This is a very busy schedule with different meetings, including the bilateral ones. “But I’m happy with it because it is for our national benefit,” he underlined.

Samdech Techo Hun Sen is also scheduled to meet with members of Cambodian community and students living and studying in Europe.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the 12th ASEM Summit, which will be held under the key theme “Europe and Asia: Global Partners for Global Challenges”, aims to strengthen dialogue and cooperation between Asia and Europe as the two regions strive to build synergy to tackle a wide range of areas from boosting trade and investment, to connectivity, to sustainable development and climate change.

Addressing the Plenary Session under the sub-theme “Reinforcing the multilateral system: advancing the ASEM partnership on global issues”, the Cambodian Premier will deliver his key remarks on “2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, inclusive & Sustainable Economic Growth”.

During his stay in Belgium, Samdech Techo Prime Minister will hold separate bilateral meetings with his counterparts from the Russian Federation, H.E. Dmitry Medvedev; the Republic of Hungary, H.E. Viktor Orbán; Norway, H.E. Mrs. Erna Solberg; the Czech Republic, H.E. Andrej Babis, as well as other heads of delegation.
